European Managed Print Services Industry Shows Its Vitality at Major Industry Conference

Record attendance indicates Europe on track to become largest MPS market

Lexington, KY – December 6, 2010 – The success of the recent European MPS Conference signals strong and growing interest in managed print services, the business model sweeping the imaging industry. The European event drew 162 attendees to Barcelona, Spain from November 10-12. Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom were among the most represented markets, with participants traveling from 18 different countries as far as South Africa and the United States. HP, Ricoh, FMAudit and DocuAudit Europe were Platinum Sponsors of the 2010 European MPS Conference.

Archived footage of the European MPS Conference Webcast can be found at http://www.mpsconference.com/wrapup/ondemand.html.

“We keep hearing from our attendees that the MPS Conferences hosted by Photizo Group are becoming a watering hole for the industry--a true source of education and networking with peers and experts. That is so important, because with organized, focused resources like these, MPS professionals and users increase their chance of success,” said Photizo founder and CEO, Ed Crowley. The highly acclaimed Barcelona keynote and presentations inspired attendees with stimulating insights and ideas:

"This conference was very beneficial. There were various ideas and a lot of light shed on the MPS movement." John Zahm, CEO of NRS Printing Solutions AG

"It was awesome. It was a lot to take in--hugely rewarding. Presentations were fantastic." David Glen, Managing Director at XBC Group of Companies

"It was interesting, stimulating and good to benchmark with competitors. A particular value was meeting with customers and the indirect channel in an effort to better understand them." Richard Caunt, Head of Managed Print Services, Xerox Europe

“We enjoyed a fantastic learning experience, business opportunities, personal networking and of course, some great fun.”Mike Stramaglio, President of MWAi

2011 Global Conference Reflects Expansion of MPS Market

Photizo Group has also announced it will host the 2011 Global MPS Conference on May 2-4, 2011 in Orlando, Florida. "Given the explosive growth of the MPS Conference series in 2010, and the increasingly international attendees, this conference will meet the pressing need for a premier 'global' event versus another regional conference,” explained Crowley.

Different Factors Drive European Momentum

Conference presenters and participants networked, shared best practices, successful case studies, and connected with what could soon be the largest MPS market in the world. According to Photizo research, Europe is expected to grow from €7.6 billion in 2009 to €21.9 billion by 2014 (24 percent CAGR), surpassing the United States as the leading market.

The gathering MPS momentum in the European market appears driven by leading OEMs developing their top end programs with advanced Stage 3 offerings for enterprise-level clients, and also through channel programs for the small to mid-size business (SMB) sector. In addition to traditional hardware resellers, other channel players in Europe are starting to make an impact with both OEM-led and independent MPS offerings. Large organizations in the IT Distributor and Office Products sectors have the potential to provide an independent MPS offering on a pan-European basis.

Development Varies Across European MPS Market

Of the European countries, the UK and Netherlands are the most advanced and fastest growing MPS markets, followed by the Nordics, Germany and France. “Cultural resistance to outsourcing has hampered development of MPS in some countries, However, this attitude is being weakened by the economic crisis and the need to reduce costs,” noted Steven Swift, Senior Consultant with the Photizo Group office in Europe.

Reduced environmental impact is another dimension of MPS that resonates in Europe. Governments are also getting involved, with recent examples of directives for public sector organizations to move toward MPS for environmental as well as cost reasons.
